| I've been immensely enjoying the benefits of working part-time. I work as a tutor for College of Business at RIT. I help the students with their marketing classes. So far, I have met some wonderful students, and I know they'll do well. While the job doesn't feed my fix for shoes and cool, funky jackets (that's the kind of person I am), it does give me more time to fix up the house, read more books, network/socialize more often.
This month, I have been meeting a lot of people through networking, and I really enjoy it too. There are times when I meet people who just don't get it, but the flip side, is I do meet some *key* people who I know will definitely help me in the long run. I call them the real networkers. They're geniune, they're funny, and they take the time to talk and laugh. If I could get a job doing this - networking with people - then I'll be happy.
I mentioned that I have been painting more often. Right now, I'm working on the master bedroom. I just have to paint the doors, and door frames before cleaning the carpet and restoring order. Now, JM would like to argue that we're not "officially" done until the pictures are up, the window sills have been replaced, add in some other furniture or shelves and such. Yah yah yah...I want to get cracking on the hallway soon, before July rolls around, and when things will flatten and melt down with the heat and sun. I know I do, especially without water or air conditioning nearby. That reminds me, I have been looking around for an A/C. Hopefully I'll be able to get one for this summer! Yahoo!!
Have a great weekend everyone!

| So I'm off from work - having been laid off since December. It's officially week 3 at home, and I want to escape - head off to Florida to relax or something. We'll see. Sorry it's a short note here, but I'm uncertain about what's going to happen. Let me gather my thoughts some more...:) | | |
| OMG! It's been too long since I've posted on the Xanga! Well, a lot has changed since I last wrote. I lost my job, and will be looking for a new job soon. It's kind of funny - how I landed here in Rochester. The whole time, I thought I would get my career in line and focus on my sweetie. Heck, focus on family, and marriage. Nine months fly by, and I'm struggling with my career especially with my boss. This is my second one, in what, less than 3 months? Anyway, if you have some advice on how to improve relations with your boss, send them my way! Meanwhile, I have moved into my sweetie's place. I'm still living out of boxes, and things are not yet settled. Howver, I have to laugh that I'm currently living within chaos. I even go to work, just to do "nothing." I admit that bothers me a great deal, but someone said, hey! You're getting paid to do NOTHING!? Ok, I'll rethink that. Let's see what happens next. Things are currently looking up - I managed to be able to work with an outplacement agency. Also, I was given at least 3 months notice so I can get my game plan in place. Plus, I'll have a severance package. Niicccee! Someone told me that I have an opportunity to reinvent myself - so true! I'm scared, and feeling apprehensive. Some days are good, and some days are bad. Now will I be able to find something by Christmas, just in time before my position closes? To all those who have xanga'd me, my apologies. I've been going through a constant state of stress, and frustration. Ever since I got my notice, I've felt the world has been lifted off my shoulders. That's definitely a sign of good things to come! Stay tuned... | | |
| Ah, it's now Tuesday - there's just something about me and my Tuesdays. Happy to report that I'm taking one step to becoming a resident of Rochy. Other than having an apartment here, I now have a library card! Whoo hoo!! Any time i move, I always get my library card first. Heck, I know I'm supposed to get my driver's lic. changed and license plates, and yada yada yada - but that takes forever to get settled (esp. visa wise). Grin.
It was quite a memorable weekend - esp. to find old friends. I saw a dear friend last weekend - Shilpa who was in town. It was wonderful to see her, and yet, I was hoping that things work out to her goals and ambitions. Through her, I found an old friend - Angela. Man, I was tickled pink to see her! Ever since I met her at RIT, we just chat up as old friends. Grin. She now has a little sweet pea in tow - Nya.
Also, I met another familiar face through the bookclub. I had a fab time talkign with the women, about women's rights (how it's changing and how it is viewed nowadays with the younger generation), communication differences between genders, and how to raise children without getting caught up in today's times. Two hours later, and we were still laughing. Grin.
I also had a great time with Jamie - even though he has a ton of errands to do, I was able to keep up with him (he could have done them earlier in the month), but no, we have to do Christmas-related exchanges near the end of Jan.! Heh. Went for a hike with River, who is quite a character. He's stubborn and when it comes ot his walk time, he's gone either with us in tow or not. We also found a great Irish restaurant in the hood, and I was happy. After two months of checking out some duds with him, I was finally happy to eat some delish and edible food. The last restaurant had me throwing out my leftovers the minute I got home. It was that bad, and don't ask me why I paid for it. oops, I just realized I didn't.
Work is starting to pick up, and I'm now making the effort of going to work early and trying to get some more projects done. It took me a while to figure out what the heck i was doing with the data, and what those numbers mean, but I finally realized that others did not know, and I was in the same boat with my interpretations or whatnot.
I'm also doing more yoga and running lately, so I'm happy to get moving on some of my goals. I'm off to take a bath now, since I need to unwind before headign to bed.
Take it easy everyone! Brace yourself for Feb., which is just right around the corner...

| It's official - 2006, and man, time flew by. Last time I was posting something online, I was living in DC/VA. I'm now based in Rochester, NY, living in my cute little apartment, and working for a "frozen peas in a bag" company (Birds Eye Foods which is actually headquartered in Rochester). I got the job last November, and gave DC and good friends of mine a hasty good bye. I then plunked myself in Rochester, right after my marathon in Oct., and started working. Yes, I was insane not to take a break!! I should have, but at the time, the circumstances didn't allow for it.
Flashforward, and whoa, I'm now able to take a deep breath and reorganize my thoughts here. I admit it's not easy to juggle a full time job, a boyfriend with his kid, and everything else. Oh yes, throw in the holidays, and it's storm season. I miss blog writing, journal writing, card writing to friends and such. I'll continue to work on that, and let 2006 be a year to write more about my life. :)
I also want to get moving on my Boston or race adventures - let's see how that transpires. I plan to carry out more of my business goals, and hope I meet the right people soon. But let's be real, I haven't started anythign yet, and hope to soon. stay tuned...
